Support Alaska's Wildlife!
Our mission PDF Print E-mail

The mission of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance is to protect Alaska's natural wildlife for its intrinsic value as well as for the benefit of present and future generations.

Our organization

The Alaska Wildlife Alliance was founded by Alaskans in 1978 and depends on the grassroots support and activism of its members, volunteers, interns, board members and staff. The Alaska Wildlife Alliance is the only Alaska-based group solely dedicated to the protection of Alaska's wildlife. The Alliance is your voice for promoting an ecosystem approach to wildlife management that represents the non-consumptive values of wildlife. AWA is a non-profit, tax exempt organization.

How we promote these values

First, we investigate the most pressing concerns threatening wildlife. Then we assess what methods should be implemented to bring about the most expedient solution. Often, this involves bringing people from varied backgrounds, perspectives and specialties together to aim for positive resolutions surrounding wildlife conflicts. We then educate the public about the challenges wildlife experience and the socioeconomic challenges humans experience from changes that occur as a result of habitat, climatic and human interactions with wildlife. Raising public awareness provides people with the knowledge to be more conscious of how their actions affect the wildlife and ecosystems with which they live.
