A warm "bear hug" to all Alaska Wildlife Alliance activists and friends!

Our all-out support for the McNeil Bears including a YouTube video won the day for the threatened bears of the McNeil River. The bears that have long trusted humans will live to be viewed, photographed and reproduce without facing death in the areas that have offered refuge for over 20 years.

Our heartfelt thanks to all those who wrote personal comments to the AWA to be forwarded to the Alaska Board of Game, as well as to those who contributed on behalf of the bears.

Our special thanks goes to Larry Aumiller, Leo and Dorothy Keeler, Daniel Zatz, and Dave McCargo. These special people combined forces with activists from every corner of the globe, and as a result, during their March, 2007 meeting, the Alaska Board of Game adopted Proposal 43 that maintained closure in the Kamishak Special Use Area.
